Britney Spears attemps suicide, give me a break

Even in rehab, Britney Spears is still making headlines. The latest news reports say that the 25 year old former pop star attempted to commit suicide last Tuesday inside the Promises Treatment Center where she is being treated. According to the British Tabloid Magazine, “News of the World”, Spears attempted to commit suicide using a bed sheet while screaming “I am the Antichrist”.

The British Tabloid has started a whirlwind of news stories following the incident who reportedly agree that Britney did in fact try and kill herself.

What makes me laugh is the fact that one tabloid can make a headline and everyone else assumes it’s true and repeats the story using their own words. News of the World reportedly interviewed a ‘close friend’ of Britney’s who insisted the rumors were true and that Britney did in fact try and kill herself.

There are two things wrong with this statement. First of all, the news source doesn’t name their source and therefore loses almost all the credibility they initially had and second of all, what kind of ‘close personal friend’ would actually confirm the incident even if it was true. It all seems a little sketchy to me.

So until Britney actually makes a statement claiming that she tried to commit suicide, I choose to believe that the accusations are false. And even if they are true, is that any reason to start writing a million stories mocking the 25 year old and making things worse. I think not. She’s going through a hard time, we’ve all been there - give the girl a break.
